From Fear to Flow: How I Let Go and Found my True Abundance💸 —🌟What Nature Taught Me About Trust and Letting Go
There’s something funny about fear. It looks massive from afar—like a grey nurse shark in the deep—but when you get close, it’s often just a sleepy giant, doing its thing, while you're the one panicking in the wetsuit.
This month in the KonMari Club, we’re talking about 💸money. And oof—money fear might be the slipperiest of all. It’s not loud like a crashing wave or obvious like a steep snowboard slope. It’s sneaky. It shows up as anxiety, overworking, or hoarding things “just in case.” But here’s what I know now: that fear is an illusion. And this truth didn’t come from a finance book. It came from some very real, very messy, and sometimes hilarious life lessons.
Let me take you back.
🌲 2014: The Pretty Beach Revelation
It was Easter. We packed in a rush—just a tent, a portable stove, and not much else. No five-star hotel, no schedule, no excess. We landed at Pretty Beach, and I had one of the most fulfilling holidays of my life. The air was crisp, the trees whispered peace, and for the first time, I felt truly free.
That trip shook something loose in me. I was raised in China with the strong message that more money = more success = more happiness. My parents, my culture, society—they all nudged me toward “more.” But here I was, camping with the bare basics, and feeling deeply rich. Not in dollars, but in experience, presence, and joy.
I realized something wild: to live a beautiful, meaningful life in Australia, I didn’t need to chase a fortune. I just needed to let go of the belief that I had to.
🏂 2015: Face the Slope, Don’t Flee
Ah, snowboarding. Romantic in theory, brutal in practice—especially when your instinct is to lean back when afraid.
First run down, I panicked at the speed, shifted my weight backward... and boom. Lost balance. Fell hard. Over and over. My coach, bless him, said something I’ll never forget:
“When you’re scared, lean forward. Face the hill. That’s how you stay upright.”
It made no sense to my survival brain, but it made all the difference. And not just on the snow. It became a metaphor:
The only way through fear is into it.
Lean in. Trust gravity. Trust yourself. It’s terrifying—until it’s empowering.
🌊 2016: The Reef, the Rip, and a Realization
Snorkeling became my therapy. The ocean became my temple. I’d swim for hours, sometimes alone, mesmerized by coral gardens and curious fish.
One day, I was so engrossed in following a school of big fish, I drifted too close to the reef. Suddenly, a wave crashed down. I tried to swim out, felt the pull, panicked—this is it, I thought.
And then... I remembered: rip current 101. Don't fight. Stay calm.
I stopped. Breathed. And then I saw it—a shadow of rocks between the waves, barely beneath me. That’s when it clicked: the water wasn’t even a meter deep. I stood up and started laughing.
My fear of drowning had almost drowned me. And the reality? I was never in real danger. Fear had distorted everything. Again.
🦈 2017: Sharks, Serenity, and Perspective
Nothing quite resets your nervous system like scuba diving with adult grey nurse sharks. These weren’t cute reef fish. These were apex predators. 2–3 meters long, thick-bodied, majestic—and weirdly... serene.
They floated slowly, sleepily, in the vicinity of rocky reefs. I was close enough to see their nictitating membranes—special eyelids—close and open. So flexible, so alien, so fascinating.
And you know what I felt? Awe. Not fear. Total stillness. Like I was part of something ancient and sacred.
In that moment, I realized:
Fear shrinks when you dare to confront it.
💸 Scarcity, You’re Not the Boss of Me Anymore💸
I never really lived with a scarcity of money. But you wouldn’t know that if you looked at how I worried. I inherited a deep fear of not having “enough”—even when I always had what I wanted.
But through these moments—camping, snowboarding, snorkeling, diving—I began to see through it. Scarcity isn’t about numbers. It’s about beliefs.
Scarcity told me to hustle harder. To hoard. To keep striving.
But I’ve said goodbye to that voice.
Now, I know money is simply a reflection of how I invest my time and energy. It’s not a threat. It’s a flow. And I’ve stopped chasing it from fear—I let it flow to me as I create value, give generously, and live in alignment.

🌲 2014 · Pretty Beach
